Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) has five campuses, namely Xuhui Campus, Changning Campus, Qibao Campus, Huangpu Campus and Minhang Campus, each with distinct positioning and unique cultural connotations.
Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) Changning Campus, formerly “Fahua” Campus, is a site of millennium-long historical and cultural heritage. It sits on the former grounds of Fahua Zhen Temple (founded in 970, Northern Song Dynasty) and carries the historical legacy of Fahua Town—one of Shanghai’s earliest-established towns. Since its transfer to SJTU in 1959, the campus has served as a base for units including the School of Continuing Education, and has been the base of the Lifelong Education College since 2021. Historical relics such as the temple’s ancient well and SJTU’s "Yinshui Siyuan" spirit are well preserved, sustaining its cultural continuity.
While honoring its profound history, Changning Campus also occupies a prime location in Shanghai’s urban core. Bounded by Huaihai West Road (east) and Yan’an West Road (west), it is adjacent to Xinhua Road—a thoroughfare rich in cultural heritage. With easy access to Metro Lines 10 and 11 (Jiaotong University Station) and multiple bus routes, it connects conveniently to Shanghai Railway Station, Hongqiao Hub, and major commercial districts. Near the Xinhua Road Historical and Cultural Conservation Area, the campus enables access to modern urban amenities while offering a humanistic atmosphere rooted in its millennium-long history—making it a distinctive part of SJTU.

The Changning Campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is equipped with a complete range of facilities covering teaching, sports and daily life sectors, providing solid support for faculty and students.
In terms of teaching infrastructure, the campus teaching buildings house multimedia classrooms, large lecture halls and meeting rooms. These spaces can accommodate 60 to 300 people for teaching and practical activities each, offering high-quality academic environments for academic exchanges and hands-on learning.
Regarding daily life services, the campus canteen provides a wide variety of catering options to meet different dietary preferences. On-campus dormitories are available to accommodate students during program periods; each dorm is fully equipped with essential amenities including Wi-Fi, hair dryers, electric kettles and televisions, and operates under a hotel-style management model to ensure a comfortable living environment.
For sports facilities, the campus features outdoor basketball courts, an indoor badminton hall, table tennis tables and an indoor fitness gym. This diverse setup caters to the varied sports and fitness needs of the campus community, supporting both daily exercise and sports-related courses.
Additionally, the campus is equipped with supporting facilities such as a supermarket, laundry room, open-air drying area, café, food delivery lockers and a parcel storage room, comprehensively safeguarding the daily convenience of the entire campus.
